Iowa Pharmacy Technician Schools, Salaries & Certification

Role: Under the supervision of the pharmacist, assists in the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy, including preparation and distribution of medications to patients.

As pharmacy techs are regulated in Iowa and both certification and registration is a requirement, aspiring students can avail of on-the-job training conducted by a pharmacist in charge or by listing onto a program in many of the Iowa pharmacy technician schools. Upon completion of a pharmacy technician training program students should are prepared for entry-level employment in retail and hospital pharmacies and pharmacies within medical and doctor's offices.

Depending on the school there may be several training options from which to choose: certificate programs (typically less than a year), diploma programs (typically one year) and an associate degree program (typically two years long and generally includes an externships in the field).

Certification requirements
