How to Become a Pharmacy Technician in Louisiana

In order to become a pharmacy tech in Louisiana you can either: 

1. Complete a pharmacy technician program at a community or vocational schools. These take about a year to complete and includes both classroom and clinical experience.
2. Complete a pharmacy technician program offered by a hospital or community pharmacy. These programs are shorter in duration but offer real hands on experience and training while you also get paid.
3. Enroll in an online program to become a pharmacy technician. Students can do coursework and clinical training for these programs from home and at their own pace.
4. Complete a pharmacy technician program through the military. This option is open to active duty service members and veterans.

Regardless of which training you option you choose, ensure the program is ASHP or PTCB accredited and that it meets Louisiana's requirements for certification.
