Maryland allows an individual to meet the registration requirements by either having passed a national pharmacy technician certification exam (PTCB or ExCPT) or by having completed a pharmacy technician training program approved by the Board that includes 160 hours of work experience and is no longer than 6 months.

Upon successful completion pharmacy technician trainees can register with the Maryland Board of Pharmacy to obtain their license and apply for employment.

Students will study classes such as Computerized Drug Delivery System (medical insurance and billing of prescriptions are covered), Therapeutic Agents of Body Systems (Drug dosages, side effects, interactions, toxicities, and incompatibilities are covered) and much much more. In addition graduates will also be to sit PTCB national exam which will give them wider access to various jobs and earning potential.
