What are the DC pharmacy technician license and certification requirements?

​Effective 11/20/15, the Board now requires the registration of all pharmacy technicians. Registration/Licensure is required along with certification. The number of actively certified technicians currently residing in DC during 2017 was 202.

DC requires practicing technicians to have completed a certification program from a nationally accredited organization such as PTCB. Continuing education is also another requirement for pharmacy techs in DC.

Furthermore, employers often prefer to hire those with national certfication over those without plus it often commands higher wages.
