The Pharmacy Technician program at McFatter Tech College is an 11 month 1,050 hour offering that is open to students over the age of 17 who have a high school diploma or GED. Miami Dade College (MDC) is one of the largest public colleges in the area and offers a wide range of vocational and degree programs. It accommodates students from all walks of life from new high school graduates to working adults. The Medical campus which is where the pharmacy technician is being offered is located 24 miles outside of Davie.

MDC Pharmacy Technician Program

The Pharmacy Technician Career Technical Certificate is offered from the school's Medical Services Education Department. It is a two-three semester course of study requiring 35 vocational credits (1050 contact hours) to be completed before graduation. While some study can be completed online there is an extensive campus classroom based portion of instruction that is offered during weekday, daytime hours.

This program is highly demanding, and students are therefore more successful if they do not work while in the program. If students must work for financial support, the program strongly recommends a limit of 20 hours of employment per week.

This is an evening program with theory courses beginning at 5:00 p.m. However, the clinical portion of the program is during regular daytime hours (usually Monday through Friday between 8am-5pm).
